To strive in a rapidly changing technological and fiscal environment requires that NUS continuously seeks collaboration from a wide spectrum of sources. Consequently, the objectives for establishing the Alumni Advisory Board are to:

  • Harness the spirit of volunteerism
  • Expand NUS’ global networks
  • Leverage on alumni’s strengths

The role of the Board is to advance the aspirations of NUS in these key areas:

  • To provide advice and counsel to the NUS President on alumni matters
  • To collaborate with NUS senior management in formulating the University’s strategic thrusts
  • To promote the mission, goals and services of NUS to its stakeholders includingalumni,parents, students, industry contacts, and the wider community of friends and supporters
  • To build and enhance relationships with alumni and friends ofNUS
  • To aid NUS in seeking public and private support for its strategic goals and educational programmes
  • To provide a model of alumni service and achievement to the wider community
  • To foster a spirit of giving among alumni and friends

The NUS Alumni Advisory Board (AAB) comprising passionate alumni from different campuses and cohorts had its inaugural meeting on 12th September 2006.

The AAB Meeting, chaired by NUS President, Professor Shih Choon Fong, was a lively and engaging session with Members candidly exchanging their views and ideas on how to galvanise alumni and actively involve them in moving the University forward.

At the Homecoming 2006 on 22nd July, the AAB Members were officially given their Charter of Office by Professor Shih.
