It has often been said that the worth of a great
university is measured by its alumni. NUS hopes to develop and count
on a strong base of alumni to support its initiatives to nurture talent,
create opportunities and generate wealth for Singapore, and to help
make NUS an institution of global standing.
Students
We believe that students, our future alumni, should
from the very beginning be initiated, inspired and involved in sharing
the aspirations of their University. We take an active role in cultivating
students by being involved in their activities and programmes, from
the time they enter NUS.
With the help of alumni and staff, we have raised funds for several financial
assistance schemes for students, namely the NUS
Alumni Bursary Awards (for students studying in Singapore), the
NUS Alumni Student Exchange Awards (for students
going for overseas student exchange programmes) and the NUS Overseas Colleges Awards (for students going to NUS-affiliated overseas colleges).
In addition, the Student Alumni Associates Programme offered, is designed to cultivate relationship with our students, familiarise them with the different aspects of alumni work and at the same time emphasise the important role alumni has in contributing to NUS' vision of becoming a global knowledge enterprise
Staff
We believe in building partnerships with faculties,
Halls of Residence and other administrative departments that help
identify and develop initiatives and activities with and for alumni
and students, and further improve NUS's services and infrastructure.
Donors
Over the years, while education has
largely been funded by the Government, there has also been a tradition
of contribution to the University by private individuals and corporations.
We would like to encourage alumni and friends of NUS to give their
