In order to obtain success in our lives, communication plays a very
important role. You will have an edge over others if you can speak and
articulate well. However, a lot of people tremble in fear when asked
to speak to a large group of people. The good news is public speaking
skills can be learned, and perfected through continuous practice and
guidance.
The NUS Alumni (NUSA) Toastmasters Club provides a warm and friendly
atmosphere for members to overcome public speaking nerves, gain self-confidence
and powerful speaking. NUSA Toastmasters Club is open to NUS graduates
and associate members for graduates of other universities, ensuring
that the quality of membership is one of the best in Singapore.
As a toastmaster, you will learn how to overcome initial nervousness
when you speak in front of a large crowd. Most people have butterflies
in their stomachs when they do that, so you are not alone. With more
practice, you will learn to improve your speech organisation, eye contact,
hand gestures, vocal variety, and speak convincingly and persuasively
to others.
We have evaluators to listen to your speech and provide feedback so
that you can progress well with each speech you make. NUSA Toastmasters
Club also provides an opportunity to develop your leadership skills.
With exciting and fun activities, the meeting will be stimulating, entertaining,
and satisfactory for all.
NUSA Toastmasters Club meets at Asia Hotel, on every second Friday
of the month, from 7 pm to 10 pm. Dinner is provided. Those interested
to attend can contact nusa-tm@email.com.
